Additions to the Studio Closet

I used to buy dresses from vintage shops that had been worn to proms years before I was born and take self portraits in the woods. I loved finding unique, totally outlandish gowns that hadn't seen the light of day for years and try and bring new life into them. Now that I finally have a studio space of my own, I can start growing that collection of dresses again, and keep them close to source inspiration for shoots from.

I moved into my new apartment a few months ago with Nick and we were able to dedicate a room for each of us for our work spaces. His is the one with large open windows and tan walls that are thick and can keep out the sound for his audio work, and mine? It's the cute little blue room with french glass doors and a small window that you can see the Sears tower from (yes, the Sears tower). I haven't had a work space of my own for years, let alone such an incredibly inspirational and uplifting one.

I've got all these beautiful gowns that I've accumulated over the years of photographing myself (and will probably never stop accumulating), now I finally have a place to keep them. I thought it would be fun to show you all some of the goodies I have in my closet that I let my clients wear on sessions with me. Hint; it's real girly, real lacey, and real beautiful.

One of the newest additions - an Adrianna Papell stunning pink bridesmaid gown that I found, that's beaded all along the front like a dream. Not gonna lie, I tried this baby on when I brought it home. How could I not? And on the right is a black, lacey short gown that fits like a glove and leaves a gorgeous design on your chest.

And then an oldie, a goodie, and a personal favorite - this gorgeous, dark red Betsy & Adam gown. Turns out amazing in photographs - see this beaut' in action in this couples beach session from a few weeks ago. And again on the right (I'm sensing a theme...) a black lace goth witchy dress that I have worn and adored.

I'm definitely going to keep adding to this slowly overflowing closet of tulle and lace (and hopefully expanding into other venues too!), so be ready for more updates like these. ;)
