One Quick Tip for Feeling More Comfortable in Front of the Camera

Do literally ANYTHING with your hands! Having something to focus on will help you feel less pressure to just look normal. Hold a coffee, type on a computer, put your hand on your hip, play with your hair, rest your face in your hand - literally any movement that involves you using your hands will immediately make you feel more comfortable, look more natural in front of the camera, and help your photos have a more dynamic and fun feel!

A few examples of how this looks when I use it to give direction to people in front of my camera…

Woman stands at a marble countertop in front of a laptop

Type on your computer

Woman sits at her desk against a pink wall and wearing a pink dress

Lean into your hand

Pure Barre instructor stands in athletic wear in studio

Put your hand on your hip

Woman sits at desk and writes in a notebook while smiling

Hold an object

Woman sits on snowy ground as her hair blows in the wind

Play with your hair

Woman sits at countertop and drinks coffee while smiling

Hold a drink

These are just some of the poses I like to keep in mind when photographing clients - utilizing your hands in photos is such a simple and easy way to feel more confident in your body and in the content you’re creating!
